Critical Issues
When you elected me four years ago, I promised to keep the residents of Burlingame in the forefront of all my decisions. Whether it was rebuilding our treasured Easton Library, fighting to retain school crossing guards or bringing funding home for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, I have kept my promise to make our town the best placeto live on the Peninsula.
I need your help so I can continue making the City Council a proactive body rather than a reactive one, support our small, local merchants, improve Caltrain and fight to reopen our vital Broadway station. Your help is vital to making Burlingame more bike/pedestrian friendly, protecting city services for Seniors, enhancing and enforcing our tree ordinances, increasing City support for schools, and ensuring future development respects our historic downtowns.
As our town celebrates our 100th year, I want to protect our historic landmarks, magnificent trees, architectural heritage, unique neighborhoods and the integrity of our parks for the next generation. Your support is essential to preserving the Burlingame we know and love--a place where we will still want to live and raise our families. This election is critical to you and all those who Love Burlingame!

Smart Growth
I support adopting a Smart Growth strategy to preserve Burlingame’s rich heritage and unique characteristics for future generations.
SFO runway expansion
San Francisco Airport authority has proposed a significant expansion of the runways that, under the current plan, will result sigificant changes to Burlingame’s bay shore.
Transportation
Like most cities on the San Francisco peninsula, we are faced with pressing transportation issues. The BART system opened its extension to San Francisco airport in 2003 with a new station on the border of Burlingame and its northern neighbor, Millbrae. How will this change the flow of traffic into and around our town?
School Crossing Guards
Despite all the controversy regarding this highly charged issue, and after more than a year of debate, the City Council voted 3-1 (abstention by Mayor Galligan)to fully fund school crossing guards for the fiscal year 05-06. The change in vote by Councilwoman O’Mahony was prompted by a recent Traffic Study I requested be done to analyze all eight intersections affected by last year’s cuts to justify that they do indeed meet Caltrans’ standards for Adult Crossing guards. I am hopeful that in light of overwhelming evidence justifying their need in our community, that funding for crossing guards will continue to be a priority for future City Councils. I will continue to make our children’s safety my top priority when re-elected.
Safeway
I am looking forward to redeveloping the Safeway / Walgreen’s site with a full-service grocery and drug store that integrates with the Burlingame Downtown. However a project of this magnitude needs to be embraced both by Safeway and the residents of Burlingame to best serve us for the next fifty years
