About Cathy
Cathy was first elected to the Burlingame City Council in November 2001 and was re-elected in November 2005 and again in 2009. She was appointed Vice Mayor for 2005 and 2009, and was Mayor in 2006 and 2010. Her commitment as a City Councilmember is to balance Burlingame's business vitality with protecting Burlingame's historic landmarks, magnificent trees, and architectural heritage. Her focus on our two downtown areas and our unique neighborhoods and parks comes from being a lifetime resident of the Peninsula. Cathy and her family have resided in Burlingame for nearly 20 years.
Her Council duties include:

- City designate to the Peninsula Consortium of Cities (High Speed Rail)
- Member and past Chairperson of the Central County Fire Joint Powers Board
- Member of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee for City/County Association of Governments

- Past Liaison to the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce
- Designate to the Fire Advanced Life Support Joint Powers Authority
- Designate to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)
Cathy completed a two year assignment as the Council representative to the Green Ribbon Task Force whose work culiminated in the adoption of Burlingame’s Climate Action Plan in June 2009. As the first and only Burlingame Councilmember to join the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Cathy obtained grants totaling nearly $300,000 to fund new pedestrian crosswalk signals, bike lanes and connections to the new Highway 101 pedestrian overcrossing. In her capacity as Council liaison to the Burlingame Elementary School District committee, she worked to maintain the joint facilities use partnership between the city and the district.
Cathy holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She was the Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President of Bay View Bank in Burlingame and served previously as a Director of the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce Board. She has worked as a financial controller for a manufacturing company where she managed cash flow, audit, payroll and benefits administration.
Cathy's Community Service has included being a Teen Facilities Committee member, Chair of the Washington School Site Council, Financial Secretary for the Washington School P.T.A., Chair of Buringame’s Centennial Committee, and Treasurer and Board member at St. Paul's Nursery School. As Treasurer of the Burlingame Historical Society since 2000, Cathy oversaw the publishing of the book Burlingame Centennial 1908-2008 which has sold 1,500 copies and helped fund the opening of the Burlingame-Hillsborough History Museum in the Burlingame Train Depot in September 2008.
Cathy, her husband Joe and their two boys happily reside in a circa 1910 Arts and Crafts Burlingame bungalow. Her older son, AJ, graduated from Burlingame High School and is a sophomore at Pepperdine University. Her younger son, Nick, is a senior at BHS. The preservation of our century-old town is her passion as well as her priority.
